Buy Nothing Day

I thought I would do my part in spreading the word… I don’t know about you, but the commercialism of Christmas and other holidays really puts me off. Most of the stores I’ve been in recently already have Christmas stuff out. Retailers seem to have simply replaced all the Halloween stuff with Christmas stuff. As much of a consumer as I can be, the mad rush to the stores the day after Thanksgiving has always disgusted me. Today, I was delighted to learn that I am joined by other unconscious protestors in that I’ve never shopped with a turkey hangover and I doubt I ever will.

Hmmm…considering that my mom nor my mom-in-law will be with me on that day, I think I can do it! I just get so wrapped up in the tradition of getting a fast start on holiday shopping. Maybe I’ll spend money at indy stores, huh?

I am totally with you here. I saw Xmas crap BEFORE halloween, and it depressed me. It makes me not want to buy anything for anybody.
